Guided experiences that foster well-being and connection

Story in 100 Words

Once upon a time, a young girl climbed through a hole in the fence into the hills. She wandered for hours — touching grass, watching deer. She didn’t know, but she was forest bathing! Nature became her happy place. Growing older, life’s pressures began piling on. Responsibilities, deadlines. She noticed others felt it too. Even outdoors, there was pressure to go farther, faster. She wondered, shouldn’t we have space to just be? Could a relationship with nature lighten life’s pressures? She decided to make a “hole in the fence” for others to climb through… and Nature Connection Santa Barbara was born.

What is nature connection?

Inspired by the Japanese practice of shinrin yoku, which translates to “forest bathing,” nature connection is a chance to slow down and experience nature with your senses. It’s mindful, playful, or sometimes both. Unlike a hike or naturalist walk, there’s no mountain to climb or scientific names to learn. No previous outdoor experience is needed.
